Original Joe’s San Jose: A Taste of Authentic Italian Cuisine in the Heart of San Jose

Convenient to the McNerney Convention Center. Very good Italian food. No wait, prompt service. Eggplant Parmesan with vegetables was very tasty.

The service is really fast, it could be a good thing or bad thing. One server took off before we got a chance to finish with the rest of our order. Overall, the food was great. Big portions. It's best to reserve tables.

Original Joe’s was definitely a busy Saturday night – we snagged a table around 7pm and parking was easy. The steak sandwich I had was pretty basic, honestly a little dry, and served with just fries. It felt a bit pricey for what it was, maybe some extra sauce or veggies would have helped. The pasta marinara was really good though, huge portion! Our server, David, was great, really attentive. The tiramisu was a miss – tasted kind of off. Overall, a decent experience, but maybe a bit overpriced for the classic feel.

I just have to say, Original Joe's is one of the last great restaurants of Downtown San Jose! With that being said, I keep ordering the steak & sausage rigatoni because I love the taste of the sauce! It's so flavorful & forfilling of a warm beautiful dinner. Im only guessing that its a cooked down red wine, but, what do I know? I know I love to eat, I love eating here & my family does too! Unable to make reservations at a very popular busy spot. However, we were told we could call thirty minutes before to put our name on the waiting list. This is key because if you are waiting. There's only enough room for about 8 to 10 people in the lobby. And there's notoriously 20 to 30 waiting. It seems to always be cold around the ankles no matter where we have ever sat in this establishment. This is because the front door keeps opening and allowing cold air to gush in. The food was amazing despite the fact we were deceived on the linguine with clams. We were told the white sauce was a wine sauce. Not a cream sauce. This is detrimental for somebody who is lactose intolerant. We had tickets to a show, so we really did not have time to return it and ask for something different.

We had a great experience at Original Joe’s Italian Restaurant. The attendant was very helpful getting our group on the list and estimated a 30–45 minute wait, but we were seated in just 20 minutes even with a party of five. For being my first time here, I have to say this was impressive! Portion caution — the plates are huge. We started with the crepes salad, entrée raviolis, fettuccine Alfredo, and lasagna. Everything arrived hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Definitely a delicious spot for a hearty Italian meal!

Busy. The steak was not bad and the mushrooms were great! The vegetables I had looks slightly overcooked and they didn't put it on the same plate as the steak. After being seated, may have to wait 15 - 30 minutes for food

Took my wife here for a date night. The staff was friendly. The host and our waiter were really nice and attentive. The ambiance was also very nice, and was cozy and romantic. The food was just okay. Might come again though, since the kids saw this place on the San Jose Monopoly board and want to try it too
